South East District Arts Festival (DAF) 2010 - ARTXpressions is back for its 4th year. Providing a platform for the spontaneity of arts and talents from the ground, the festival brings a refreshing mix of art forms to the community while bonding art enthusiasts.

Event Highlights:

COLOURS (Opening Performance for DAF)

COLOURS represents energy, creativity, originality, vigour, ambience, emotions and will synergise the vibrant liveliness of colours through movement. COLOURS will be presented by Maya Dance Theatre in collaboration with community arts groups like Aspire Dance Programme, Dian Dancers, Down Syndrome Association, Haig Girls School, Nichiren Shosu Buddhist Association, Temasek Polytechnic, Indian Cultural Group and Tung Ling Community Services. COLOURS is directed by Kavitha Krishnan Creative Director of Maya Dance Theatre.

Be captivated by this visit portrayal of life through a spectrum of COLOURS!

24-Hour Playwriting Competition

Now into its thirteen year, the competition is an anual highlight for aspiring playwrights from all walks of life, in collaboration with TheatreWorks, participants will write and incorporate 5 given stimuli into their play within 24 hours in unique and engaging settings. The only competition of its kind, the competition focuses on the lighter and fun side of playwriting and hopes to make playwriting and creativity a major part of people's lives.

A Graffiti Arts Competition among the schools and community groups in the South East District with the theme being values of Singapore Youth Olympic Games - Friendship, Excellence & Respect. Workshops teaching the basics of Graffiti Arts will be conducted leading up to the competition.
