In a little island called Singapore is a little street called Waterloo.
On this street is a Hindu temple, and just beyond sits a weather worn building.
Peek on the 2nd floor of this aging centre, and you’ll find an office, a temperamental air-conditioner, and corridors dotted with rooms big and small.
Venture along and you’ll be stopped by raucous laughter and heartrending cries, or caught unawares by an agitation of shapes and shadows. Blink and you’ll miss that shock of costume and colour, open your eyes and you’ll find a trove of splendid props in every unexpected corner…
Meet The Theatre Practice! We may not be all shine and swanky polish, but our charm lies in our unwavering commitment to our vision and beliefs. Born in 1986 and founded by Kuo Pao Kun, we are Singapore’s first bilingual theatre company! Firmly rooted in our home, we celebrate diversity with a belief in harmony.
Whether we are young or old, of supple limb or weathered step, our boundless energy springs from our passion for creativity and the arts. Our work runs the gamut of theatre, from traditional to modern, classical to devised, realist to experimental.
And on the road ahead, we will continue to objectively critique life, respectfully entertain audiences, and always, explore new uncharted waters.
